It was her first
and his 14th.
Around this house, teenagers are fair game for Christmas jokes. What looks like a "Barbie Nutcracker" DVD, is actually a "Bass Pro Shops" gift card holder.
And thanks to the wishes of Matthew, John and James, "Lego" will not have to worry about bankruptcy this year.
As for Kent and I, we got hooked on Jack
Update: It's 1Am on Saturday, and he is offically home! :o) Old Man Winter, try as he may, is not going to keep Kent away from us! The blizzard that swept through Milwaukee managed to delay Kent's flight, but thankfully it did not get canceled. He is on the plane, it is in the air, and he is headed home. Those poor people whose flights were canceled can not get out til Monday.
Today was Catherine's 2 weeks post-op appointment, The doctor says she doing good and she looks great, we agreed 100%! She's still in the healing process right now, so in about a week we can start putting moisturizer on her scar while we give it a little massage, and he also gave me a prescription for some ointment that will minimize scarring.
We discussed a few other things, one being who would be her doctor for her annual check ups when we move. There is a cranial-facial clinic in Milwaukee, but he recommended a doctor in Chicago that he thinks we should take her to stating very enthusiastically that he is "THE BEST!" (anywhere, not just in Chicago) and that it would absolutely be worth the extra hour to take her to see him, especially if she does end up needing any other surgery. This doctor is covered under our insurance so it looks like at least once a year we'll be heading to the windy city. Hopefully we can get a Monday or Friday appointment and make a fun weekend out of it.
And here is our little Catherine two weeks post-op. She still has a bit of swelling and a few stitches sticking out and some scabbing that needs to go away, but all and all she is looking very good!
Oh, and before I forget, she's rolling over on her own now! First time was Sunday, and yes we got it on camera, drool and all! (Check out the proud brother in the background!)
Catherine's surgery has come and gone and she is well on her way to recovery. Everything went so much better than expected, and I thank you all for your prayers.
To be honest I had no intentions of posting photos on my blog this soon. I had planned on waiting until the stitches had dissolved, but both my mom and my sister have asked if I could send pictures, and my dad took some pictures while he was here that he is going to go back and share with his family, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to share the pictures with the rest of our family and our friends who have been praying so hard for her throughout these past few months. She really does look much better than I thought she would, and the pictures don't do her justice, but it will give you an idea of how she looks.
