There are certain times in life where one may start to contemplate their own mortality. It may be when a loved one dies, or it might be during a discussion about life and death with one's children, or it could very well be when you are shopping at Costco in Algonquin, Illinois and you pass by the coffin section. It's just past the beer and wine, but before you reach the office supplies....I wonder if you have to buy those in bulk?

I extended our spring break to a full two weeks (although I did make the boys do math this week). We really, really, really, REALLY, needed the time off. It was nice, and I'm actually somewhat ready to get back to a normal routine come Monday. Well kind-of. OK, not really, but I really can't justify a 3rd week.

The Masters is on this weekend, so Kent and the boys have big plans for becoming couch potatoes. During the short commercial breaks they will work on a model tank they picked up a Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and eat pimento cheese sandwiches. In case your wondering, "Why pimento cheese?" the explanation is here.

When it comes to gardening, I have what I would consider to be a "brown thumb" since that's what color my plants usually are when I am done with them. So what possessed me to buy numerous packets of seeds for a variety of herbs, fruits, and vegetables at Target today I will never know. Kent was with me, he insists he can help my thumbs develop some sort of a greenish hue. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I figure even if he fails miserably we can still consider it a lesson in botany for the boys.

James got a watch in his Easter basket this year. For the past 5 days I've been asked, "Guess what time it is?" every 5 minutes. I'm hoping he gets tired of this in the near future, otherwise he might "accidentally misplace" his watch the next time he talks it off for the evening.

For our Friday night movie last week we watched "Where the Wild Things Are". The boys all agreed that is was the worst movie they had ever seen in their life. I would be inclined to agree, if it weren't for the fact that I've seen "Cloverfield".
Actually, Kent and I aren't sure where we stand with our opinion on the movie other than the fact that is was absolutely not what we were expecting. So right now we are deciding between "Well that's 2 hours of our lives (that seemed like 3) we'll never get back" and "OK, now that we know what to expect, maybe we should watch it again, because there's probably some deep philosophical life lesson message thingy buried within somewhere." I guess the big question is, do we care enough to spend another 101 minutes trying to figure it out. Personally I think I'm good with the one time. Thanks for helping me to sort that out!

I have managed to keep my email inbox empty for 1 full week. I spent last weekend creating folders to place emails I want to save and sorted the huge backlog of stuff I had just sitting there. Got rid of a lot of stuff too. So now the rule is when I sit down to check email, I either need to reply/delete or sort it into a folder.
FYI- if you have emailed me, and it's something I could not get to right away you most likely have been placed in my "Temporary" folder. That is where I put the stuff I need to get to when I have a larger chunk of free time. So if a week or two has passed and you still don't have a response from me, please send me a reminder so I can place you in my "ASAP Temporary" folder!
We absolutely hated the movie "Where the Wild Things Are." We expected our favorite book. We were very disappointed.
