Last night at the dinner table, the boys and Bailee were talking about all sorts of different things, and at some point the conversation turned to the late Michael Jackson. To be honest I don't remember what anyone said other than Bailee, who gave the opinion that most of us shared when he was still alive:
"I liked him better when he was black"

Actually, Bailee really knows a great deal about color. She happens to have quite a bit of talent when it comes to art. Her favorite thing to paint is birds, and it just so happens that my favorite bird is the red-headed woodpecker. And when you have a niece that loves to paint birds, and she finds out that your favorite bird is a red-headed woodpecker, she just might paint a picture for you and bring it when she comes to visit.
This one is getting framed and hung on the wall ASAP!

I took Matthew into the eye doctor last week. He was due for his annual exam and we had promised to get him in contacts this year. When there, we discovered (to the surprise of none) that he is actually color blind. The lady administering the test explained that it's no big deal; very common in boys, and that he probably has a hard time matching his clothes, especially when it comes to browns and greens.

Kent and I are in the process of picking out paint colors for each and every room of the house. (I think I'm starting to see a pattern of colors in this post). The painters are coming the end of the month so we are starting to get crunched for time. This is not an easy task for me. I have absolutely no vision when it comes to interior design.
Kent can splash some small little splotches on a wall, step back and in two seconds know what colors he wants.
As for me, I need something a bit more helpful
The middle section won. Unfortunately we can not paint the floor.

Catherine is talking up a storm these days. I think there was some concern from those in the medical field if she would have speech problems; you just never know what you're going to get with children who have cleft issues. At her year check up her pediatrician was already talking about speech therapy with us, but not wanting to jump the gun we've pretty much taken a wait and see kind of approach. So far she really has no issues other than the fact that she makes the "sh" sound on a few of her "s" words. The word "sit" happens to be one of those she does that to. It's fine when we are at home, but I got some weird looks at Matthew's baseball game the other day when she pointed to the open space next to her on the bleachers and told me to "sh*t".

I think we are the only people in the United States of America who have not seen Toy Story 3. This situation will be rectified on Sunday. I can't wait!

We are leaving on vacation in exactly two weeks. We've decided that we are getting spoiled by the beautiful Wisconsin summers, and thought that Phoenix, AZ would be the perfect place to spend the last week of July. Any sight seeing will be done at either 6 o'clock in the morning or 10 o'clock at night. I'm sure the Grand Canyon looks just as spectacular through night-vision goggles as it does in the light of day!
Toy Story 3 was a great movie. I saw it in 3D, and can't wait to see it in 2D (I'm not particularly good at the 3D thing, since my eyes don't cooperate well). BTW, Are those game controllers in Matthew's pockets, or some sort of matching technogadets?

We never got to see the picture Bailee painted for you. Looks good. Wow! what a surprise with Matthew. Sounds like you may have noticed some color problems with him. Catherine is so cute glad to hear she is talking alot.
